Controlled Accidents Num. 2, and on Tour with TheM Goods
So this video udpate has been up for a few weeks now on the Rollerblade Myspace Page, and I have just lagged on putting it here. So here it is. This was filmed on Jeromy Morris’s little handheld Canon Elph Digital camera, which turned out to be surprisingly good in quality. I actually did not plan on doing this narative into the camera, but for some reason felt like describing what was going on in my mind while performing this task. This is a pretty truthful narrative, in that everytime I go blade I pretty much only focus on relaxing, breath control, and working with gravity. However I only focus on these things when I am…focused. Which isn’t every time.
I havn’t updated my blog in forever because I have been hanging out with this guy. The guy on the right that is, who is Erik Bailey. We have been listening to alot of Crystal Castles, hitting up the various skateparks surrounding the area of San Francisco, and going to the beach. You can’t tell in this picture because its black and white, but im rocking a pretty sweet tan. The weather last week was amazing. The sun was out and blazing for four days straight, and I was out rocking shorts and tank tops for each one of those days. We also did some serious stoop chillen, which actually felt like we were in a movie. The first thing I could relate it to was Seinfield…and uh…I don’t know why.
Here are some more photos of Erik and I. This was taken the day I asked Julio if I could jump on the TheM Goods Tour (www.themgoods.com). It actually happend like this. Julio: “Hey Rob, what are you doing tonight,” Me: “Trying to jump on tour with you guys whatsup?!?!?!?” Julio: “uh….yeah sure!…oh wait…um im not sure if theres room….uh yeah its cool.” And like that, my next travel began.
The ride was pretty tight, but thanks to heredity, and my moms ability to pack like a master tetris player, I too discovered I harnessed the same ability. I even jokingly started to sing that russian style song while I was packing them goods. This was the best job I did on the tour, and was unable to match its perfection again. Thank you Julio and Company for letting me sqeeze in!
While on tour I was stretching quite abit. I have learned a few things from books and people which I try to incorperate in to my pre-blade routine. Its a mixture of some martial arts stretching i learned in a book called “Dynamic Strength” by Harry Wong, and random yoga postures I picked up from people and other books. I should definately do this more, because my back is so jacked from the many years of blading that one one physical trainer said I have scoliosis. When I feel the vertibrea in my back there are areas where it is all over the place. Ideally I should do this every day, but discipline can be…well…wait. I was going to say b*tch but, “discipline” is not a “thing” existing outside of me that is controlling what I do. I am controlling what I do. So what does that make me…um…lazy. ha!
We got to walk through Hollywood one of the days, which I had never done before. These hand and feet prints were the funniest there to me. They are Samuel L. Jacksons, and I don’t know about you but when I think of Samuel I think of Snakes on a Plane. And if you have seen this movie, then you know the best part of the entire movie is when he exclaims “I’m tired of these motha f*ckin snakes, on this motha f*ckin plane!!!!” It is even funnier, when they sample it in the credits song. If there is any reason to see this movie, it would be to hear Samuel L. yell this in anger. It may be the only reason.
This was the posse I rolled with. Haffey and Broski showed up in AZ for the Revolution Skateshop Stop. It was a great turn out at the park. SOOO many kids. We also had the pleasure of staying at James and Gretchin’s (Revolution shop owners) which was super nice. Their shop was proper, and it was truely a pleasure staying with 2 of the nicest people in the industry. Thank you James and Gretchin!
Thanks also goes out to Arlo and Joe at Franco Shade for hooking up some of the best gear in the industry. More thanks goes to Julio and TheM Goods for letting me continue the Light wave. Make sure to Cop TheM Bearings coming to shops very soon. I’m rocking a set of the swiss jawn’s and they are HOT. I say Jawn, because I’m warming up for my Philly trip…

More updates to come soon. Its 2:39 A.M. right now, I’m listening to the new atmosphere, drinking yogi tea, and am about to go to sleep even though I’m pretty awake. Just got back from skating back a couple miles from my cousins house. We watched Iron Man. I dug it. If you do watch it make sure to wait till after the credits.
And now I leave you with these motivational words from music I have been listening to lately…
“I try to find my own fault first, strictly to see if my opponent does have a relevant case. Its hard to admit when your wrong, I reckon my whole life for as long as it takes to get it right.” – Charli2na

Hey Rob, I really look forward to these updates. You are an inspirational guy. The philosophy you have put out there has always been interesting and thought provoking!
Anyway, I was just interested in finding out more of your pre-skating stretch routine. I’m a relatively old man myself. So flexibility is essential to me.
Cheers,
-Jonny

Ah, stoop chilling. Just had my first session today during a thunderstorm. Thanks for the motivation to get back into a stretch routine, I needs it!
Oh yeah and thanks for giving the captions for what Alex and Casey said, I don’t think I could have understood it otherwise
